Privacy Policy

We process personal data lawfully and transparently. This policy explains what we collect and how it is used.
Data we collect
Account information such as name and email when you register.
Messages submitted through the contact form.
Comments you choose to publish.
Visitor statistics
To see how the site is used, we count page views, time spent on pages, which games and experiments are played and for how long, downloads, and the country, device type, browser and the site that linked here.
This works without cookies and without storing anything on your device. Your IP address is used only for a moment, to look up the country and to form an anonymous code that changes every day; the IP address itself is never stored.
Visits by signed-in staff are not counted. The statistics are only for us, are never shared or used for advertising, and are deleted after 13 months.
How we use data
Data is used to provide the service, communicate with you and improve our content. We do not sell personal data.
Your rights
You may request access, correction or deletion of your data through our contact page.
RemoteFriends
RemoteFriends is free remote desktop software. When you use it over the internet, your devices meet at a relay server run by blobidea unless you set up another one.
Screen, sound, keyboard and mouse input, files, clipboard and passwords are end-to-end encrypted between your own devices. The relay only forwards encrypted data and cannot read it.
To connect devices, the relay needs the IP addresses of the connecting devices, the 9-digit computer ID, a random computer key that proves an ID belongs to that computer, and which access key a computer uses. It uses them only while a connection is open, in memory.
If you sign in with your email address to get a free access key, the relay sends you a one-time code through our email provider Resend (resend.com) and keeps your address with your access key, so the key can be renewed and we can reach you about it. When a new key is made, we are notified, also by email, and the notice contains your address.
The relay stores permanently only the computer ID, its computer key and the access key it registered with, so the ID keeps working. Access keys are stored only as a one-way hash; free keys are derived from your address and not stored at all.
To stop misuse, the relay counts for 24 hours, in memory only, how many sign-up codes an internet address or an email address asked for and how many different computers an internet address contacted. These counts are never written to disk. If we block an internet address after misuse, only a keyed hash of it is stored, for 30 days.
The relay keeps no record of who connects: no IP addresses, computer IDs, computer names or connection times are written to its logs or to disk.
When a direct connection is possible, your devices connect to each other and learn each other's IP addresses. You can turn this off in the app under Settings → Connection.
Twice a day the app asks blobidea.com whether a new version exists, and it downloads updates from there; these requests show your IP address and app version to our web server. You can turn this off under Settings → General.
We do not sell this data, use it for advertising or share it with others unless the law requires us to.
To have your computer or your email address removed from the relay, or for any question about your data, write to support@blobidea.com.
